Living Here

Meet a Local: Stacey Hamner, Reclaimed Spirit

Owner of two home and gift boutiques in Florence, this creative entrepreneur shares her favorites around town and why the Shoals is ideal for families.

Like so many born in the Shoals area, it took leaving—and stints in Jasper, Ala., Little Rock, Ark., and then Tuscaloosa, Ala.—for local Stacey Hamner to appreciate how special this community is. She and her family, including her husband and two daughters, moved back to the Shoals in 2012, drawn to the smaller-town vibe and culture here.

Today, Hamner runs Reclaimed Spirit, a home and gift boutique with a curated selection of home décor and gifts for the everyday, using her keen eye for design and personalized approach. Her hope is that her two stores, on Court Street and newly opened on Florence Boulevard, will “welcome you with open arms and hopefully make life a little easier,” she says.

Let’s get to know more about Stacey!

How has the Shoals offered a unique opportunity to grow your business?

It’s allowed me to connect more closely with the amazing women that shop with us and also to be more involved in the local community.

What’s your go-to restaurant?

My favorite, hands down, is Yumm Thai Sushi & Beyond. I get the Red Planet roll and a Dirty Spice martini for dinner. At lunch it’s the Thai beef curry noodle bowl or the Masaman chicken curry.

Name a hidden gem that people may not know about.

Visitors are always surprised to hear there’s a live lion mascot on UNA's campus. You have to go see Leo!

Favorite part of living in the Shoals?

There’s no big-city traffic, but lots of music and family activities to attend; and it’s a quick drive to Nashville or Birmingham without the high cost of living or stress. It’s a safe place to live and raise a family.

Describe your ideal weekend here.

Enjoying the Friday football games with our kids, sneaking off for a date-night drink at GunRunner Hotel or maybe catching a concert. I also love a Saturday walk at the TVA Rock Pile or a trip to the lake [like Pickwick or Wilson lakes].
